Stephen Cratchley

Stephen Cratchley is an Advanced Technology Pricing Manager within Customer and Business Pricing at Suncorp.  He is a specialist on advanced automotive technologies and has been investigating these for many years. He is particularly well connected worldwide in this space with those working with these technologies.
His role at Suncorp has been to identify strategic risks to the business and develop and manage options to mitigate those risks.

Andy Cohen

Andy Cohen is an actuary and a Principal of Finity Consulting Pty Limited and has over 25 years’ experience in the general insurance industry.

Andy began his career in London as a Lloyd’s broker, then worked for a London Market reinsurer but finally ended up in Australia as a consulting actuary.  With over 25 years’ experience in the general insurance industry, Andy has extensive experience across a range of areas including workers’ compensation, reinsurance, travel and professional indemnity. 

He is or has been the Appointed Actuary to 13 insurance and reinsurance companies.


Warren Dresner

Warren Dresner is an Executive Director based in the Willis Re Sydney office and is responsible for client management and broking across a range of classes of business. Part of his responsibilities includes the production of new business with a focus on the development of the property side of the business.

Prior to joining Willis in 2012 Warren spent 12 years at Aon Benfield, most recently as a Treaty Broker in Australia and prior to that as a broker in the European Treaty team focusing on production and placement of European Windstorm programmes.

Warren has reinsurance placement and analytics experience in Australia, UK, Europe and the USA covering a range of classes of business, including catastrophe, property, casualty, surety, builders’ warranty and lenders mortgage insurance.

Warren is a Fellow of the Actuaries Institute in Australia and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Macquarie University.

Mitch Prevett

Mitch Prevett is a Principal at Quantium where he leads the Retail Analytics practice delivering advanced analytics to retailers such as Woolworths and large FMCG suppliers such as Proctor and Gamble, Unilever and PepsiCo.
He has deep experience in consulting at a strategic level on pricing and promotions, forecasting, ranging and customer targetting.
Prior to his current role, Mitch led the Insurance Pricing practice at Quantium and was central in the development of new approaches in price optimisation, risk modelling and competitor analysis.
Before joining Quantium, Mitch qualified as an Actuary whilst working at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he pioneered developments in insurance claim cost estimation.

Sharanjit Paddam is an actuary at Taylor Fry, where he works in general insurance and accident compensation.  Sharanjit has acted as Appointed Actuary to four insurers and reinsurers and has over twenty years’ experience in the industry.
He is the Chief Editor of Actuaries.Digital and a member of the Climate Change Working Party of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries (UK). His recent joint paper with Professor Andy Pittman, Climate Scientist at UNSW, and Jon Harwood at Suncorp entitled “Can Actuaries Afford to Ignore Climate Change?” won the Taylor Fry Silver Prize at the General Insurance Seminar in 2014.




Irene Yiu is the Group Capital Modeller at QBE where she is heavily involved with the development and use of capital and risk models in areas such as capital management, reinsurance optimisation, risk management and reporting.

Prior to joining QBE, Irene worked for the Prudential Regulatory Authority in the UK, where she was lead actuary for the supervision of a number of high profile syndicates and general insurance companies, working closely with the C-suite executives of these companies. Prior to relocating to the UK, Irene spent several years in personal and commercial lines pricing and reserving.

Irene has a double degree in Commerce (Actuarial Studies and Finance) and Arts from the University of New South Wales.

 

Richard Gibbs

Richard Gibbs graduated from University in Canterbury, New Zealand in 2001 with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. Following this he commenced his overseas experience taking him through the USA for 1.5 years and eventually ending up in the United Kingdom.

In 2003 he begun at Aspen Re on the graduate scheme as a Graduate Trainee and in 2007 became an Assistant Underwriter in the Casualty Treaty team covering worldwide exposed business written in the London Market by both Lloyds syndicates and in the company’s markets.

In 2009 Richard returned to Australia as a Casualty Treaty Underwriter for Munich Re Australia. 

Richard joined Tokio Millennium Re Australia in February 2012 as an underwriting producer with a focus on casualty lines. He is involved in risk analysis, pricing and underwriting of casualty business emanating from Australia and New Zealand.

Richard’s current role is Vice President, Senior Underwriter at Tokio Millennium Re Australia.

Justin Ho

Justin Ho is currently the Manager for Natural Perils Pricing (Australia) at Insurance Australia Group (IAG) since mid 2012.  He has over 13 years experience in various aspects of personal lines insurance from pricing, demand and customer analytics, reserving and budgeting/forecasting.  Justin enjoys the challenge of meeting the needs of the organisation in getting a more granular view of risk particular in perils risk through the combining of traditional and non-traditional actuarial skills set, technologies and data. 

He holds a double degree from Macquarie University: Bachelor of Applied Finance with Bachelor of Commerce- Actuarial Studies.
