The Actuaries Institute offer scholarships to develop the leadership capabilities of actuaries, and those working in areas of data science and AI to further their opportunities in leadership and governance.

For a second year in 2024 we are offering the Actuaries Institute Women Leaders in Data Science/AI Scholarship in partnership with Chief Executive Women (CEW). 

This scholarship to the value of AUD$25,000 is available for one senior level woman working in data science or AI specifically, who has at least three years senior executive experience within this sector as part of their overall career. The successful candidate can undertake their choice of study at either:

Who should apply?

  • Senior executive (CEO, or no more than two levels down from CEO).
  • Three years’ senior executive experience in data science or artificial intelligence as a part of their overall career history.
  • Endorsement from senior management or the Board of her organisation.
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident.

2023 scholarship winner

Lisa Green, Telstra Executive was recipient of the inaugural Chief Executive Women and Actuaries Institute Harvard Business School scholarship for women leaders in Data Science/AI in 2023.

On winning the scholarship Lisa said "I am thrilled and grateful to receive this amazing gift from CEW and the Actuaries Institute, two prestigious organisations that I admire. I know that Australia has many incredible women in AI and data science, I am humbled to be among them and pleasantly surprised to have been awarded the scholarship. My level of excitement has made it extremely difficult to keep this news to myself!"

Lisa shared, "I have recently taken on a new mantle where I am leading the shift from simply implementing aspects of AI into parts of our business sporadically, to seamlessly integrating AI across our entire business. I play a critical role in accelerating Telstra’s strategic goals through the adoption of AI and for me to transform our business, I need to transform my leadership as well."
