OVERVIEW

The Actuaries Institute Australia and Actuarial Society of Hong Kong are co-hosting the CPD Tour, Hong Kong. It is a not to be missed event as we bring you experts on governance, regulation and your professional duties. This tour has been designed to cater for all members working in traditional/ non-traditional roles and management positions. It is our opportunity to learn from past events and strengthen our profession.
 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • President Nicolette Rubinsztein will discuss the current state of the industry and the profession’s role, sharing her personal experiences.
  • 2018 Actuary of the Year and author of the Social Risk Dialogue paper, Ian Laughlin will facilitate an interactive workshop on professionalism. He will draw upon case studies and share personal reflections.
  • CEO Elayne Grace will reflect on the Institute’s initiatives including the Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Scheme together and highlight how they can support you in your role.
  • ASHK representatives Thomas Tang and Roddy Anderson (below) will share local insights and development on the topic of professionalism.

The Tour will be combined with the Presidential Tour, which is included in the ticket price. Nicolette will deliver her Presidential Address and give delegates the opportunity to gain insight on the year ahead for the profession.

Thomas Tang

Thomas Tang, FIAA

Thomas has been the Chief Risk Officer of Bowtie, the first virtual insurer in Hong Kong, since last July. His 20+ years of experience saw him working in direct insurance, funds management, reinsurance and consulting, spanning Australia, the UK, and Singapore before spending the last decade in Hong Kong where held consulting actuarial roles at PwC, EY and Coherent Capital Advisors. His specialties are in risk & capital management and transactions, on which he has advised some of the biggest financial institutions across the globe.

Roddy Anderson

Roddy Anderson, FIA

Roddy qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1974.
He began his career with the Commercial Union now AVIVA but on qualification he joined a Merchant Bank and then a major UK Clearing Bank as initially their Appointed Actuary for a few years then a stream of senior management positions before coming to Hong Kong in 1993 to join a local HK/Macau bank from which he retired in 2012 to become an INED of 3 hedge funds and he has now returned to become the CEO of their HK branch of another major UK Clearing Bank with an insurance subsidiary with 7m policyholders mainly in the UK. He has been the Chairman of the ICCB, HKFI and past President of the ASHK.

CANCELLATIONS

As the Institute incurs costs prior to the commencement of this event, no refunds will be available after Friday 14 June. Substitutions must be received in writing by Monday 24 June. In the unlikely circumstance that this event is cancelled, delegates will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation.
