Organising Committee

Julie Evans  Julie Evans (Convenor)
Actuary
Worksafe Victoria

Julie Evans has worked in the injury compensation sphere since 1992, first as a consultant, before moving to WorkSafe Victoria in 2008.

In her time as a consultant Julie worked in general insurance more broadly, but tended to focus on injury compensation. She was also able to take a number of opportunities for overseas secondments.

Starting in an actuarial role at WorkSafe, she went on to lead the Scheme Performance division, before moving into her current role as the Value Delivery Lead in the Transformation program. In 2018 WorkSafe’s headquarters relocated to Geelong, and Julie has now relocated too. No change to the footy team though; she remains an enthusiastic North Melbourne supporter.

Julie is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and is a serial presenter at conferences such as this.

Andrew currently manages the actuarial services team at EML, which tracks operational and outcome  performance and provides strategic advice across EML’s workers compensation and personal injury portfolios throughout Australia.

Prior to joining EML, Andrew worked as a consultant to the general insurance industry for more than 15 years, specialising in providing operational advice to Australia’s largest workers compensation self –insurers.  He has a  strong view that actuarial advice to workers compensation stakeholders should generate actionable insights  that can be used to improve outcomes for injured workers and the entities that carry the associated liability.

Like the Convenor, he is a devout follower of AFL football;  in particular the Adelaide Crows.  But he has trouble understanding how any rational person could remain an enthusiastic North Melbourne supporter.
