James Aclis is a qualified FIAA and CERA in the General Insurance Actuarial team at KPMG. Apart from the usual portfolios, he has experience with specialised areas such as asbestos and builders’ warranty, done review and modelling work for health and human services, and performed risk and governance reviews. He’s worked in the UK, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia, and has a particular passion for the importance of speaking and presentation skills in the actuarial profession.

Luke Heinrich Luke Heinrich 

Luke is a qualified actuary working as a strategy manager at Atlassian where he drills into all things data and decisions. Previously, he spent his time at Quantium developing personalisation algorithms for retailer e-commerce in Australia. Outside of work, Luke loves to read and will gladly talk your ear off about cricket.

 chris armstrong Christopher Armstrong 

Christopher is a Manager at EY, working in the General Insurance and Health Insurance team. Christopher is a Fellow of the Institute and a Certified Enterprise Risk Actuary with 7 years’ experience working in an actuarial consulting environment. Over this time, he has worked on a number of Appointed and Scheme Actuary roles, Peer Reviews and provided actuarial support on the audit of multiple insurer’s and government schemes. More recently, he has had a particular focus on assisting insurers prepare for IFRS 17.

Lucy Jing  Lucy Jing 

Lucy is a Director in the valuation team at Pacific Life Re and has 8 years experience in the Life and Wealth Management industry. She is passionate about people development and is currently a member of the YAP committee and the Actuaries Institute's Horizon 35 Taskforce.

Richard Dunn - Richard Dunn 

Richard joined Rice Warner in June 2015 while putting the final touches on a thesis in Quantitative Risk.  Now graduated, Richard applies his experience to the wealth management sector to:

  • Produce a range of Rice Warner’s Public Policy submissions, particularly regarding the development of retirement products and assessing the long-term sustainability of the superannuation sector.
  • Review and provide guidance on the behaviour of investment strategies.
  • Provide strategic advice to superannuation funds regarding their market position, potential member retention strategies, mergers and acquisitions.
  • Leverage data analytics to improve member outcomes through Rice Warner’s Super Insights research.

In addition to a combined Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Science (Adv. Math) degree from the University of New South Wales Richard has qualified for fellowship of the Institute of Actuaries Australia (FIAA). During this study Richard specialised in Investment Management and Finance and was subsequently awarded two Andrew Prescott Prizes for the highest performance in each examined course. 

In his spare time Richard researches artificial intelligence, spends hours in the kitchen and is currently training for his first Ironman triathlon.

Luke Starkey Ryan Starkey 

Ryan Starkey is an analyst at Quantium, providing actuarial advice and data-driven solutions to various insurance clients. His work experience includes general insurance pricing and liability valuation across compulsory third party, commercial and personal insurance lines.

Ryan is passionate about creating networking and professional development opportunities for young actuaries. He is the President of the Young Actuaries Program Committee (Queensland), and a member of the Young Actuaries Advisory Board Task Force and the Queensland Actuarial Community Organising Committee.

Michelle Dong

Michelle Dong

Michelle is an R&D actuary working in life insurance at Pacific Life Re. Having previously worked in pricing, valuation and capital roles, Michelle is passionate about understanding the broader impacts of Climate Change and is a member of the Institute’s Climate Change Working Group.

Tim Yip Tim Yip

Tim is a Director at Taylor Fry, and has worked in the general insurance industry since 2012. He has extensive experience providing reserving, M&A, pricing and capital management services to general insurers. He also specialises in providing actuarial advice to corporate workers’ compensation self-insurers across all Australian jurisdictions.”
